Service and Repair: Dealership Eneptitude You Have Never Seen the Likes of

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: New York

I went to the Dealership "experts" with my car 3 times, twice of which they had it for 3 day and 7 days. cannot find out why the reverse lights dont work. installed new bulbs (14.00$) for me. said the trunk lights and switch are operational". needs more diagnostic time. needs more time. needs more time. so i have no reverse lights, ive spent the last couple of months convinced by the dealerhsip that my car had serious electric problems. after a you tube video on the MOST REPORTED PROBLEM for this generation of car, i inspected my trunk harness underneath the carpet aqnd bang, a riped and rusted wiring harness. i believe there is even a TSB (technical service bulletin from toyota for the dealership to solve problems). this really was alot of stress for no reason.

I at the same time was having a noise up front. after i left the first time, the clink was still there. i came back , and was told it was amount other things, a shock like mount in the front, and the aftermarket coil spring was making the noise (i returned the shock assembly under warranty and paid to have it reinstalled). ive since had three of the four mounts replaced, discovering there was indeed a fourth mount where all the trouble was coming from. never, not in 3 visits, did anyone mention this mount. i looked at it with my mechanic, its obvious.

and what brought me into the dealership in the first place, a check engine light. i was told it was a valve. i replace the valve. the second time i return they tell me its now the charcoal canister. the mechanic right in front of me told me it wasnt new, even though i replaced it a year ago to pass inspection. i was given an estimate for labor 2 hours. me and my mechanic took 15 minutes in and out .in fairness, most models that year had the thing in the tank so it was a big deal to get to. But it just goes to show how horrible it appears that they are at their job.

does anyone have any suggestions on how i should handle this? keep in mind that ive already had the servic emanager involved. the second time my car was their they gave me a rental. but even with the service manager involved, this was what i was getting. I would be happy with a free fix on the mount and the wiring harness.
