My question involves a marriage in the state of:NC
My sister got married several years ago and we just recently found out that she purposely wrote the wrong name on her marriage certificate. She did so because her husband doesn't know her previous name and she has since gone through a name change so she feels no need to tell him.
She also purposely wrote her own date of birth wrong on her daughters birth certificate.
My question is: what are the consequences of this? Also, how the heck did she get away with it for this long? (Not really a question, just a personal thought.) Her husband still doesn't know her original name and no one has any intention of telling him for fear of what he may do (legally) if he found out.
