My question involves defamation in the state of: Florida
My husband (of less than 2 weeks) and I had not yet left a review online for our wedding DJ. We weren't satisfied with his services and were avoiding thinking about the negative parts of our day. Yesterday my husband received an email from the website thanking him for his review of our DJ. My husband did not have an account with this site, nor did either of us leave a review. I checked and there was a review with my husbands name and our wedding date giving the DJ 5 stars and praising his services. I also saw one with my name misspelled also leaving a 5 star review and praise. After looking through his previous ratings (almost all of which are 5 stars), many of them look like ours or using phrasing he used in his pitches.
I've reported this to the website but we feel violated. Is using somebody's email to sign up for a website illegal or just frowned upon? Also, how do I spread the word about this guy without being sued? We trusted his 5 star reviews and that's why we hired him. I just don't want any other couples ruining their big day by believing these false reviews.
