My question involves marriage law for the State of: Massachusetts
As a US citizen marrying a man who has had permanent residency status for over twenty years I want to understand the laws governing the union. I'll consult an attorney but I am looking for the big picture at the moment. It is difficult to obtain information on this from the USCIS (even in person) because we are not asking about citizenship (and because their customer service reps tend to work off a script). I'd like to know if this marriage will change the permanent residency in any way (expiration date for example) and are there financial obligations for me to be aware of/concerned about when marrying a permanent resident? Any online source (easily navigated with useful and reliable information would be nice) you can point me to is also appreciated. Thank you!
