Speeding Tickets: Underage and Received a Speeding Ticket to Appear in Court

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: NM

I am currently 17 years old. I received a speeding ticket for going 96 in a 75. I was driving my mothers car and was not used to how fast it can go. I was paying more attention to the road than I was the speedometer. The police office gave me a citation that says I have to schedule a court appearance. Is there any way that I can request a fine instead? The city is 2 hours away from me. I have school every day of the week and cannot afford to take off. I was also wondering if they would possibly suspend my license? I need access to my car because of school and family responsibilities. Thank you
