Determination of Fault: Driver Admits Fault at Scene/to Police, Changed Story with Insurance

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Kansas

I switched lanes and I already had FULL control of the lane when another driver starts coming out of an entrance back onto the main road where I am and hits the passenger side rear fender of my car. His driver side headlight and front bumper came off. I was accelerating from 20 MPH to 30 MPH (Speed limit is 30). To top it all off, the guy was driving his friends car.

BEFORE I can get out of my car, he starts saying sorry it's his fault he wasn't paying attention, he didn't notice I had switched lanes. He's very nice and apologetic to me even when I've said nothing 20 mins in and I have some pissed off look. Minutes later, the police arrive. We both give out statements, the police officer tells me after I give my statement that he even admitted he wasn't paying attention.

Now today I get a call from my insurance company and they're telling me he has stated I'm at fault. Now I'm pissed because this dude knew he was at fault and he changed his story. Dude was bigger than me so I know he wasn't intimidated.

This was the best I could sketch. Basically he did a quick glance and turned away, didn't see I had switched lanes in between times ,(had my turn signal on, don't know if he noticed) he started pulling out but was not even close to having control of the road, when I had already taken over. There was traffic flowing my direction.

Insurance says they're going to fight for me but this is straight up BS.
