My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Ohio
My son bought a car a couple months ago that was posted on Facebook for sale by a "friend" of his. He paid cash and when they brought car to my son they had to tow it themselves to our home. The whole incident from really grimey from the start. My son did not realize that some of the parts under the hood was missing because it was dark to begin with and the guy sat on the battery while they were talking. The car had alot of problems that were not mentioned in sale post or in person. They acted like it was a cheap easy fix. I dont know what my son was thinking except he would have a way back n forth to work. It's been nearly two months since he bought car for $600 cash and did not get any form of receipt or paperwork to prove he paid for the car. AND when he asked for title the "friend" that posted car for sale, delivered car, and collected money told him title was in his mind name. He was supposed to set up time for my son and his mom to meet at bmv to sign title over, we have continuously tried to set get in touch with them to set it up but when they do reply which is rarely, they have excuses. I have went as far as messaging my son's friend and his mother without any reply. Except for his friend did contact him recently acted as they never got the title transferred to any of their names from the person they bought car from. I want to sell the car, it is an eye sore. My son is going to sell it for $50 even though he just paid $600 2-3 months ago but it was missing parts of the engine he wasn't aware of and would cost way more to fix than it is worth. What can I do about being lied to about it all. And what can I do about the title? The sooner its out of my hair the better. The entire situation is terribly sketchy. Thank u so much for any advice u can give me.
