My question involves juvenile law in the State of: California
My son (17 yrs old) got in a verbal exchange with an adult (21 yrs old) over text message. The adult kept baiting him by saying he was't a man and that he would send somebody to beat him up. My son told him why did he need somebody else to handle his business and that if he had a problem he could come take care of it face to face. The adult came to his work with his cousin and started swinging. My son's friend was there and kept the cousin from entering the workplace. The cops said this was mutual combat and were not going to write up the report. Can we press charges? The adult was the brother of my son's girlfriend.
