My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Hawaii
When a contractor is performing work under the direction of an engineer and their engineered set of plans, what is the contractor obligated to warranty? I as a contractor have been asked if I offer any warranty. I currently do not have any warranty program. I feel that if I provide new materials in accordance with the engineers requirements, and install them as show on plans, or as directed by the engineer of record, any failure of this work should fall on the engineer, not the contractor. Therefore, I have a hard time answering the question about me offering a warranty. Any comments are much appreciated.
