Repossession: Dealership Says They Will Repossess Our Car if We Do Not Give Them a Bank Statement

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Indiana.

My husband recently financed a car through a local dealership, he has received the payment book and made his first payment to the bank. The dealership called him this morning demanding a bank statement or they were going to repossess his car. The dealership stated they had a representative from the bank on site ready to repossess the car if they didn't get the statement today. My husband called the bank and they told him that his account was not marked for repossession and that they did not need a bank statement and they have no idea why the dealership is demanding one.

My husband called the dealership and told them what the bank had said then the salesman who sold him the car car said "oh the statement is not really for the bank its for titling and registering the car". Should he turn over a bank statement or is something deceptive going on here?
