My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Louisiana/Texas
I have 3 daughters and my ex is now filing for child support with the state. I have made voluntary payments of a significant amount for all of my children. I've been paying around $400 a month per child. I recently vacated my job and accepted another position that was a significant paycut, roughly 28% of what I used to make due to stress and unhappiness at my other job. In turn I kept my children's mothers well informed of the entire situation and told them well in advance of the paycut. Upon starting my new job I restructured my payments to counter the new job keeping with the approximate same percentage as before. Basically 40% of my income disbursed among my three children. The ex in question apparently feels this in unfair that now she's getting less money and has filed. I've tried to explain, but its basically like trying to talk common sense into a corpse. My question is whether I should or should not stop my voluntary payments to her since she has filed and let the lawyer handle it from here on out?
