My question involves business law in the state of: Hawaii
Hi, I'm a contractor and have written a $250k contract for specialty construction. I addressed the proposal to the General Contractor, but the Owner signed it. The GC says I will be working for him, cordinating construction with him, but the Owner will be paying me. Is this a valid contract to have the proposal addressed to a GC while the owner signs it? The proposal was signed, scanned and emailed to me. I do not have an original.
I assumed not, so I re-addressed the proposal to the Owner and asked hm to resign it. he has not done so, but it has only been a couple days.. His assistant mentioned that he would Docusign the proposal and return it to me. Something seems fishy.. Why would he sign my proposal when addressed to the GC, but want to Docusign the proposal that is addressed to himself?
How do you find out who is the actual owner of a project and authorized to sign proposals and make contracts for work on a particular jobsite. This company who is building a warehouse has several people (or partners) involved and I don't know exactly who is who. Just hoping someone signs my proposal and that person pays me for my work.
What can I do to ensure I get paid from whomever signs my proposal? Any specific language I should use?
Many thanks,
