Help

My question involves personal property located in the State of:
Illinois
I recently moved out of a residence due to not wanting to be with this person anymore. Well im trying to get back my furniture and other items that i purchased with my own hard working earned money. As well as my sons things. Well i went to try with the police n the person was not there so i wasnt able to receive it but just my clothes. So im trying to see what would i need to do to get a court order from the judge. As to going there where exactly do i need to go in the court and who do i need to talk to . thank you
