Wills: Heirs Predeceace Testator Death

My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: New Jersey

Let’s say you are writing a will and you plan to give an inheritance to 23 people (a thru y). You have no children.

You give, devise and bequeath etc, etc,:
Subparagraph p)you give % to A. If A does not survive you, it goes to B.
Subparagraph q) you give % to B. If B does not survive you , it goes to C.

Now:
B dies. B’s share will eventually go to C when you pass on. IS THIS A CORRECT ASSUMPTION?
Months later after B died, A dies. Where does A’s share go when you pass on?

Also you have in the will:
Subparagraph z). In the event no named beneficiary survives me in any of the above subparagraphs from a) thru y), I direct that the share under said subparagraph shall be distributed equally among the remaining subparagraphs in which there are surviving beneficiaries.
