Ticket Errors: Incorrect Code Listed on Citation

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Utah

I got a parking ticket in Salt Lake City for violating city code 12.56.440.9 which states that I can't park:

Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb, or within thirty feet (30') of points on the curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless authorized signs or markings indicate a different length

In Utah, a safety zone is defined as:

"Safety zone" means the area or space officially set apart within a roadway for the exclusive use of pedestrians and that is protected, marked, or indicated by adequate signs as to be plainly visible at all times while set apart as a safety zone

I was 100% not anywhere near a safety zone. Although, I was parked right next to a stop sign which is a separate violation in Utah (I'm visiting from CA where there is no restriction on how close to a stop sign you can park, but now I know I can't do that in Utah). To be more exact, approximately this location:

Since the ticket does not reference the correct code, could it be dismissed if I appealed it? Or would they just change it to a stop sign parking violation instead?
