Transfer of Title: Can’t Register a Vehicle Due to Former Owner's Failure to Register

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Colorado
My mother traded an SUV she had amongst her other cars for a Mercedes Benz. The Mercedes is very well taken care of and has all the paper work. Title ETC. I went To her house about 3-4 days ago. And she presented me the gift of my dream car (The Mercedes Benz) my parents have been split for some time. So she said to make sure my father was okay with the gift. When I told him he said let’s go check it out. Looking through the paper work the title was the only thing we’d found. And In the title we’re a few signatures but all from years n years ago. Last signature was in 2012 when the car was registered. My dad said we’d have to take the title to the DMV and see what they said. The Title was never signed from an official “SELLER” only dealerships - dealerships. I’ve contacted all names on title and they all were dealership workers. And they’ve all told me there’s nothing they can do. The car is unregistered and is just sitting there. The lady took my moms SUV, and we haven’t been able to contact her. The vehicle isn’t stolen we’ve verified through the DMVS vin website. What can I do to gain ownership of vehicle??
