New Car

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Ga

I went to purchase a new car in mind. I went with knowing my mother in law would co sign because of my bad credit and her good credit. I went very niave and alone. Bad mistake. But in all I have signed all documents. (with my mother in law agreed on phone to sales lady) She wanted to help me get a car. Then the financing people started haggling about if she was the only one on the contract we could get a better deal. So I agreed! So now the dealership is asking me to tell my mother in law to tell the finance company she is buying the car for herself. We said no and that she made 40000. A yr. Which is a NO.
Basicly the car dealership used my mother in law credit and my income. Is this legal ? And can I go Back to dealership and tell them I need to redo contract with my name on it?
