Eviction Process: Who Can Serve Court Papers

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of:california
If my wife is the only person listed as plaintiff in the eviction process, am I allowed (I am her husband, but I am not named as plaintiff in court documents) to serve the tenant with unlawfu detainer papers?
