My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: California. Regarding the sale of a used motor vehicle from private party to private party --
The sale happened in November of 2016. On June of 2017 buyer informed seller that they had yet to register vehicle. That there were problems with the smog inspection. This is nearly eight months after sale of vehicle. No communication regarding any problems prior to June 2017. After eight months who is responsible for smog inspection? Buyer wants seller to pay $ 1,600 for repair parts in order to pass smog inspection.
I have been told by Triple A and a friend/judge this is too long of a time for seller to now be responsible, but I am looking for documentation in some vehicle code. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
