My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of Georgia:
So I have been having issues with this dumb **** of a landlord and I am really starting to get upset with his stupid antics. So I rent a room on a property in Georgia. I pay $600 / month. The important thing to note is that the room that I am renting has its own key code and is accessible from the outside, and once I gain access to my room, I also gain access to the house in general. However, I have recently asked that the landlord provide me the key code to the front door, so that I can enter and exit the house from the front door just like everybody ****ing else. The landlord asks why, and while I do have a reason for requesting it, its none of his ****ing business why. I pay rent and bills, so I expect the same access to the house that everybody ****ing else gets. And its not like I am accessing another tenants room, as I could just go the long way around by unlocking my room from the basement and going up a flight of stairs, but I believe I shouldn't ****ing have to, as I just want to use the front door!! However, he has dug his heels in over this stupid shit and refuses to tell me. So I find myself in a scenario where, out of 4 people who live here (including me), I am the only one who doesn't have the code to access the front ****ing door. I have been looking a bit into Georgia law concerning if the landlord is required to provide universal access to the public areas of the residence in which I rent a room, but since this is such a stupid thing to begin with, I have come up with nada. Interestingly, in the lease agreement we signed, on the very last page, where it talks about providing the keys, it only specifies "pin code for door" but not which door. The actual page of the lease containing this info can be seen at the below URL. Does the landlord have a responsibility to provide tenants with access to the public facilities utilized by the residence? Can I use the ambiguity of the lease (since it only specifies "pin code for door" but not which door) to force him to hand over the door code? Why I am having to force my landlord's hand to hand over the door code to the front ****ing door is beyond me, but any advice to deal with this idiot would be great.
