My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Texas.
I just bought a 99 Nissan sentry from a dealership in Dallas. Before I test drove the vehicle I noticed that it had a spare tire in place of the normal one. I started to move the car on the lot and immediately parked it because I could tell that the wheel nuts were not securing the wheel properly. I brought it to the managements attention and was told it was going to be taken care of. 3 hours later the mechanics said it was good to go and it appeared that there was a normal tire installed. With the ok from the mechanic who was in a rush to leave for the day, (it was past closing time) I proceeded to make my way back home, 20 some miles away. 10 to 15 mins into my trek the wheel fell off, on the highway, and proceeded to continue down the offramp ahead of me. No one was hurt, thankfully, and no damage to any other vehicle. The stud bolts were severed and wheel nuts dissappeard. Unfortunately not expecting this to happen I couldn't pay for a tow to my home and the police had to take the car to impound. What should I do? Have the dealer pay the impound and towing fee and repair the car? how do i go about doing that when buying as is? It is a buy here pay here with "lowest down payments".
