Should I Trademark My Business Name

Hi :)

I have created a sole proprietorship LLC, and registered the business name in my home state. The business is the creation, licensing and publishing of IP

Should I also trademark the name? If so, what advantage does that give me?

I did a search here:

There are no like names, although I understand that does not guarantee registration.

Do I really need an attorney for this? I know attorneys are usually recommended for most things, but it's just the registration of a name - can I do that by myself?
