Speeding Tickets: How to Serve Subpoena for Speeding in Illinois

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Illinois

I am contesting a speeding ticket I received a while ago (23 mph over the speed limit) and would like to attempt discovery by issuing a subpoena for the officer's calibration records. The Clerk of Court has been giving me a hard time about it, telling me to send the subpoena directly to the police department and the prosecution and refusing to serve it to the appropriate parties. Based on Illinois Supreme Court rules, it seems that discovery is not allowed in traffic cases, except by leave of court. I think that is the issue, but the Clerk of Court has not been helpful in establishing the correct procedure. Therefore, should I contact the judge about compelling discovery with a subpoena?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
