My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington
To make a very long story as short as possible, but still try to include the important parts of the case. It starts as most of these cases do, and that is with and ex girlfriend.
It was June 2017, my girlfriend and I had been together two years, I just happened to stumble apon her, and another man (my next door neighbor) on a beach together making out. I lost my cool, and I got the guy. And proceeded to take my dogs and left. Later that night, I was contacted by the police, regarding the situation, me being the naive down to earth person I am, I admitted to that. I was charged with 2 cases of assault 4, theft of pet animals (for my own dogs), and harassment. The next day I was served with restraining order papers stating she would receive full custody of both the dogs, one of which was mine. So, I complied and gave them to her. The two weeks past, and I did not contest the order, and she asked to have it dropped, as we came to the agreement to share the dogs. About another month passed, and an argument arose as she wanted the dogs when it was suppose to by my weekend with them, and I gave in the following Monday and let her have them when it was my day, she then blocked all contact with me, and filed for another restraining order with the same custody for the dogs. I was getting tired of this at this point, as I was being completely civil and in no way made any threats to her, or gave any reason for her to fear for her protection. So, I filed a small claims suit to have my dogs returned to me. About a month passed, and she contacted me again, wanting to be civil about the dogs. So, being the forgiving soul I am, I agreed. A couple months of that went by, and our first trial date neared for the dogs, and it was agreed I would drop the case if we could agree to share our dogs. I dont really know what happened, but she blocked me again, and I decided I would take it to court after all. I won the court trial in favor to have my dog returned, and now, she decides to go and turn in the last three months of contact we have had regarding the dogs, and I have been charged with 9 counts of violating the protection order as well. My lawyer has made it very clear, and gave me the I told you sos, so thats not what Im asking for here. She has messages on the request for discovery, which prove our contact was completely innocent regarding only sharing the dogs. I honestly feel abused by this whole situation at the point, as Im really not a violent person. I apologized to the guy the day after the altercation, and he accepted it and said he respected me for that. I had never been in a fight before that, and regret it to this day. What I am asking, is what do you guys suggest I do with this case? I have a pre trial coming up regarding the protection order violations next week, and trial for the DV case in March, and Im scared this crazy ex girlfriend will be able to ruin my clean record simply out of spite that I only want my dog back....
I might also add, I am 21 years old, and simply want to get my life on track to success. Im really not a bad guy here, Im just very scared...
