Other Violations: "Fail to Obey Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way" Ticket in Iowa. Any Chance in Court

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Iowa
I received a ticket for, as the ticket states, "Fail to obey stop sign and yield right of way" in Iowa on 6/3. I was travelling home on a 4-lane state road (southbound) and was turning onto a 2 lane county road. There were cars approaching In the northbound lanes, which I needed to cross to get onto the 2 lane, so rather than stop and wait for them, I blew through the stop sign in the median.

The state patrol officer caught up with me about 2 miles onto the 2 lane road, and told me he pulled me over for speeding and blowing the stop sign. I asked him how bad my speed was and he said "the speed wasn't bad, but the stop sign was." he never gave me a number on my speed. I believe I had my cruise set at 7-8 MPH over the speed limit. He gave me a warning on the speed and issued me a citation for the stop sign. The code listed on the ticket as being violated is 321.322(1)

During the stop, I don't think that I directly incriminated myself by saying "i ran the stop sign" or anything like that, but when he asked me why I was in such a hurry, I said "I'm just trying to get home."

My history is as follows:
Speeding ticket (2013)
Two Speeding tickets (2016)
This failure to obey stop sign ticket (2017)

My court date is currently listed as July 6th. It is in my hometown's county. However, I go to school in 6 hours away and I am supposed to have class that day. I've seen people suggest going about trying to have the date delayed over and over again. Is this a recommended tactic? Do I have ANY hope whatsoever? Is it just my word against his? Do they normally turn audio or video recording on for a simple traffic violation? I looked over the ticket and I believe that all of the information is accurate.

I am in my 6th year of college. I DO NOT have money for a lawyer, so I would be going to court myself. And honestly, I don't know what my argument would even be, but I've heard that sometimes they will try to come to an agreement with you beforehand. I'm really just grasping at straws here because I hear that this ticket is much worse for insurance than a simple speeding ticket.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!
