My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: my partner.
I live in Florida. I was living with my partner for 23 years. She passed away last month and I went to her bank an closed the account after the money from her social security was returned to the social security. This month I received a claim check for &2500 that I did to an insurance company I paid for more than 7 years. I had POA and last will before I was appointed by the court as her legal guardian about 4 month before she passed away. She doesn't own or owed anything. I do have plenary guardianship letters off the person and property. Can I cash this check to recover some of the final expenses like funeral services?
