Court-Appointed Lawyers: What is the Job of the State Attorney

My question involves criminal law for the state of: iowa

I am a victim in a domestic violence case. I want to make sure the state attorney is doing his job correctly because he is new.

What should he be asking me? Should he be showing me information about the defendendent ?

I have court coming up and I haven't even been so Pena yet . I'm just a witness I guess. Please tell me what the state attorney should be doing to assure I get justice .
