Security Deposits: Do I Have to Mail Tenant Itemized List of Deductions to Deposit or is E-Mail Ok

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Texas

I did not receive a physical forwarding address from my tenant and did not send the deductions list within the 30 days. They e-mailed us asking about its status, and I responded letting them know that I had been delayed getting the work done on the house to repair the damages and did not have the deductions list ready. They e-mailed one or two more times, and one of the later e-mails finally did include a forwarding address. They claimed that I was withholding their deposit and I let them know that since they did not send the forwarding address I was not obligated to send them the deposit or deductions list. Now I did e-mail them the deductions list, but they are claiming per Texas Property Code 92.1041 I should have sent it in the US mail. Is it sufficient in this case that I just e-mailed the deductions list? We had been successfully e-mailing, however the lack of physical address is what I used to extend the amount of time I had to finish the repairs on the house and provide an accounting of deductions.
