My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: texas i believe it is Colorado county. I was driving my commercial 18 wheeler through a small town & got pulled over by a local police man for a small overhead light that was out. I fixed the light in front of the officer as it was just loose & wasnt getting a good ground. The cop then went around my truck inspecting it along the way & when he came back said he was giving me a citation for having bad tires. The thread on the tires was good but they had a knick in them where a rock had gotten stuck in between. My question is, for an officer to inspect a commercial vehicle shouldn't he have to be D.O.T certified? I was stopped a few days before by an actual state trooper who is certified & he didn't cite me for the tires, he said they were getting bad but still within legal limits. The actual citation was not for tires but for defective equipment & in parentheses he wrote tires.
