My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington
I am 30 years old staying at my parents with my fiance. We both work full time and are hardly home. I moved in May 2017 after a car accident and L.I claim led to my unemployment and me loosing my house, and car.
Since living here I have been physically assaulted once, and verbally abused and harassed on a daily basis.He has also threatened me with eviction when there is no rental agreement. He likes to attack us verbally and then gets physically confrontational and picks up his tablet, starts recording us without our consent, and claims hes being abused and threatened. My mother works and is hardly here but is a victim of years of physical, sexual, and mental abuse at the hands of my father. She basically has Stockholm syndrome and does nothing to stop his madness. we were told as youths repeatedly that he would kill us all if we ever told the cops about him beating mom or us. He constantly threatens me with violence demanding money from us for staying here when I was told previously by my mother that we could stay until we get on our feet.
I have 3 brothers. We were physically beaten with up to 15 belts at a time routinely throughout our childhood. I have been beaten bloody more times than I can count. he used to punch us in thr face if we didnt eat his food. Force feeding us.
I have suffered great mental anguish, alcohol problems, drug addiction, and other mental problems since reaching adulthood. I haven't drank in 5 years, and have no criminal record and really turned my life around. I have no choice but to stay here because I just recently started working and am saving to move and buy a car.
My fiance and I are trapped. We are unsure of what to do and are afraid for our safety and the safety of our animals here. I'm seeking advice on what to do. Should I file a police report? He keeps threatening us and I'm not sure how to proceed. He takes oxycodone and steroids for his back and has a shotgun. He regularly has mental breaks and goes into fits of rage. Is there any help to get us out of here sooner?
Yesterday the assault happened. We came home from work to see our 2 year old black lab locked upstairs in 100 degree heat with no water. This is the second time it's happened this week. Anyways we had a locking door to our room. I got home and noticed it was turned inside out so that we could no longer have a secure door. I quietly start reversing the lock on my door, when he charges me yelling. Grabs onto my wrists and the handle and starts pushing and shoving and attacking me verbally and physically. He was yelling its my door it's my door trying to hit me. I went upstairs and he slammed the door locking us upstairs with no handle to open the door. He rips off the outside handle and continues yelling. At this point we can no longer leave on our own free will. That night my mom returns home and they act like nothing happened. Not sure how to proceed. Thank you.
