My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Texas
So my friend and his girlfriend live with his sister. My friends are good roommates. They make sure the apartment stays clean, they help take care of his sister's child, and they pay their rent. That being said, they aren't on the lease, even though they currently pay the entire cost of living and rent for the apartment, while his sister, who is on the lease, pays almost nothing. They even mostly pay for the groceries and the cost for his sister's child. Unfortunately, they got into a slight disagreement with his sister. She wanted them to babysit her child and they had to refuse because they weren't able to. And because of this, she is now kicking them out, into the street, with only a few days notice, and they have nowhere to go. Can she do this, especially since they pay for everything? And what are their legal rights in this matter?
