Starting a Business: Business Liscense Questions for Online Sales in South Carolina

My question involves business law in the state of: South Carolina, Laurens County

I registered a business license a few years back and the year after I received a tax bill for an evaluation of 22k(I was told for business related goods) from my county. I actually never used the business license as it never got off the ground. I called the county and said I never used it and could not pay $1600 bucks worth of taxes as it never got off the ground. They waved the fee's for me and I moved on and let it expire.

At the time of registering I wanted to offer products online only. I had no idea I would be taxed so high just to register a business name.

I would like to start a business and will need an LLC to do so. If you offer products on Amazon you are required to show a business license. I do not want to be charged $1600 in taxes just for the name each year. Is there a way to register my LLC without paying so much in taxes? I only need it so that I can file taxes on profit earned at the end of the year separate from my personal taxes.

The goal is to offer products on my own website, Amazon and maybe some affiliate related marketing. Is there a specific license I need to select that does not tax me so much for just having it?

Also, is there anything else I need to register with to do online sales?
