My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Maryland
I was pulled over for speeding when the officer noticed I had another ID (belonged to someone else), although I gave him my own. He asked for and confiscated the other license and issued me a ticket for "possessing more than one driver's license at any one time" § 16-111.1.(f) with a fine for $530.
I plan on going to trial and pleading guilty in hopes of a lesser sentence, but would like some clarification as to how serious this sort of violation is. The cop said he could've arrested me- is there a possibility of being criminally charged in court even though I wasn't initially? Should I hire a lawyer? Is there anything I should or should not say when I go to court? Not sure if this is the platform to ask, but if this ends up on my record, how bad does it look to employers/schools?
