Medical Malpractice: Intraspinal Epidural Lipomatosis

My question involves malpractice in the state of: Missouri
I have a herniated disc at the L5-S1 causing severe sciatica down my right leg. My doctor sent me to pain management for a series of selective nerve root blocks.
My first MRI was in March of 2017 showing the herniation. By May if 2018, I'd had my forth shot. Right after, I was referred to a surgeon who requested a new MRI.
The new MRI showed that a Moderate intraspinal epidural lipomatosis is present at L5-S1 causing prominent constriction of the thecal sac.
I did some research, and that is a rare diagnosis. And it is caused by the shots they gave me. It can cause paralysis or even be life threatening.
Here is my question. Should I have been notified of this risk? I would not have consented to these procedures if I had known. The results of the shots are temporary at best.
Is this negligence or even malpractice on the part of the doctor or hospital?
Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
