My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Colorado. I live in Boulder, CO. I had a job at a law firm in Denver. I was there for four years. The commute was one hour bus ride in each direction. It became too much for me. I was getting sick a lot and taking off too many sick days. I updated my resume online and about a week later I was contacted by a recruiter telling me she had an opening at a firm in Boulder, would I be interested? I said yes. I interviewed and got the job. So, I left my Denver job on December 22, 2017 and started my Boulder job on January 2, 2018. Six months in to my new job I'm told it's not a good fit and they let me go. No other reason. They said they would not contest my unemployment claim and they didn't. However, after I applied for unemployment I get a notice of decision and they said that I'm not eligible for benefits because I chose to leave my Denver job of my own accord which makes me at fault therefore I'm not eligible for benefits. I appealed the decision on my own, without an attorney. I just received another notification saying the same as the first, I'm not eligible because I left my Denver job of my own accord. I've never heard of anything so stupid. Why should that be keeping me from something I've been paying into my entire working career? What are my next steps? What legal steps can I take to turn this over? Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Nada
