Court Proceedings: Trial

My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: New York..I have been to several pre-trials trying to modify a previous court order of visitation with my son's dad. We now have a Trial date set coming up soon. I have never been to trial. I have placement. He has been investigated by CPS but was unfounded. I have been told that what CPS did have on record would definitely help me in court. They are trying to modify the current visitation because it's irradic and revolves around his irradic schedule. He was abusive and I have a court advocate. I'm nervous about going to trial, but my lawyer says his lawyer told her she won't go to trial on this ( he had a history of not paying his lawyer and i believe she's afraid of losing) At our last court appearance for support court, he owed me back child care $ , he got very abrupt with the judge and overbearing..they offered me a police escort out to the parking lot because of his beligerant behavior. Will this affect family court at all?

I was told to document incidents. I have soooooo many text messages and written things down, but i need to compile them. We don't talk, only text. How do i document for the court so that the judge or lawyer's will look at it? I don't know what to expect at a trial. His lawyer was supposed to send mine a proposal before court but I haven't heard anything. I'm so nervous. Any suggestions on what to expect? He allowed mine son to go 3 days with unchanged clothes..he's 9. He slept in the same clothes he went to school in and wore them for 3 days. Then pooped in his pants on the last day when I was to pick him up. his dad didn't do anything to fix this issue.
