Subleases: Compensation for a Week Without Bathroom

I'm a subtenant in NY.
Yesterday the superintendent told me the entire bathroom in my apt needs to be replaced next week because it causes leaking to downstairs. It means I cannot use a shower and toilet for a week. I have to book a hotel because it's impossible for me to live in the apartment without using a toilet. Is the overtenant responsible for compensation? If so, how much can I ask?
