My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California.
So, my boyfriend is renting a room in a house and has 3 other roommates. One of his roommates throws his food out from the fridge without even telling him, but they'll admit to it when asked about it. Another roommate throws his stuff out from the bathroom which he shares with. The roommate that he shares the bathroom with claims that he "cleaned" the bathroom but we found that he just threw away stuff from my bf's sink in the trash, including full bottles of hair dye that I had left on my last visit. Lastly, the landlord gave him a notice for a non-renewal and I believe it's retaliation bc they're being petty towards my bf because he always asks to increase the AC (and he's not even allowed to have a personal fan in his room), he confronts them about throwing his stuff out, and one of them overreacted when my bf asked where his pan was because he had left it on the stove and everyone claims they haven't seen it. Is there anything he can do? How can we prove that they're trying to evict him in retaliation?
