My question involves a person located in the state of: Missouri
My father has been in a nursing home for 2-1/2 years due to having Menier's disease and inability to walk any longer. He has taken all meals in his room for over 2 years. Now, just in the past 2 weeks, they are making him go to the dining room to eat breakfast (Mom is there with him in his room for lunch and dinner) because he "may choke." Then, he is left sitting in his wheelchair for 2 hours or more while they take everyone back to their rooms. He has never had an issue with choking. However, he does have advanced Menier's and has had falls from his chair in the past. I am afraid he is going to fall and be injured while left sitting in the wheelchair for so long. Can they force him to go to the dining room for breakfast? He is quite capable of feeding himself. His only disability is not being able to walk.
