My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: I signed a 2 year relocation agreement. That agreement states if I leave with in the 1st year I owe 100% of what they invested in me.
The position turned out to not be what it was suppose to be and I found better employment. I am not trying to get out of paying, I just want to know what my options to repay are?
The total owed is $10,300 (reimbursed expenses and housing assistance). I have worked for the company a total of 5 years and I am leaving after 9 months at the new facility.
I have offered to make payments and they refuse that. Some have advised I offer them about $5k to $6K and see if they accept. My question is, if they still expect the full amount by my last day and ca'nt do it. Do I make them to come after me either thru collection or small claims court? Do I give them the $5-6K and make them decide if court is worth it?
Once again, I am not trying to escape from my obligation. I just can't write them a check for the full amount. Trust me, the new job is worth it and staying the final 15 months will be very difficult.
