Mortgages: Va Loan is Giving Us an Ethical Issue

My question involves real estate located in the State of: Georgia

My wife and I have been attempting to purchase a home in Georgia. We are also selling our house in Texas. Both properties are under contract. My wife and I have been using a real estate agent, who apparently works in the office with the mortgage broker, in Georgia to purchase a home. Our home here in Texas is scheduled to close on the 25th of May,2018. Our home here in Texas is going very well is on schedule for close. Inspection period has passed and all amendments are done.

In Georgia we only wish it was going smooth. We have been talking the broker agent for over 30 days now. I am a 100 percent disabled veteran with full compensation and social security disability rating. My wife is disabled and receives social security disability. This mortgage company keeps asking for information. We have given them all income documents, IRS documents, Bank statements, Mortgage statements, and debt information. They have been somewhat reasonable up to today. Today, May 9th, they asked us if we had the money for both mortgage payments for the 1st of the month. It is May 8th and we are set to close on the 11th for this house in Georgia. We informed them no because we just paid for our move and the movers are coming tomorrow morning to get our stuff. We had to pay deposits on electric and water as well. They told us that the underwriter now is demanding that we have the money for both mortgages in the bank now regardless. We tried to tell them that this house in Texas is under contract but that doesn’t seem to matter. We are now getting the money from my wife’s mother who is 80 years of age just to satisfy them which they are fine with. The underwriter is asking that a letter is signed by my wife’s mother that we do not have to pay this money back.

This all seems not very ethical at this point. At the least wildly insane! Note that we also get paid again on May 16th and will have money for both mortgages even though we will not have to pay for both after closing on the 25th of May. They have all of our bank information for months and our incomes ; and they are demanding that we take money from an 80 year old woman money satisfy their banking standards? Is this legal? We are now starting to record the conversations which is legal in the state of Texas without even asking. Only one party has to agree to record conversations here. Should we get an attorney at this point? Please let me know if you require any further information. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
