My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Washington
Hello,
I'm going to be moving out of the state of Washington when my lease ends in a few weeks. I have verbally informed the manager of the apartment complex I live in, with a written notice to follow. I've been told that the State of Washington requires 3rd party cleaning of the unit when I vacate, but cannot find anything online to substantiate this claim. There is nothing in my lease stating this requirement, but I do have a checkout charge sheet that I signed when I signed the lease, that lists various charges for various potential problems such as missing/damaged blinds, cleaning floors, etc.
Because I'm moving out of state and Washington has 21 days in which to return my deposit, I'm concerned that if I don't hire or let them hire a 3rd party to clean my unit, they will withhold a portion of my deposit and since I will be far away taking them to small claims court won't be an option. Where do I stand legally on this issue? Thank you for your time.
