My question involves workers compensation law for the state of: Ohio
Ok so I have been working at my job now for over half a year.. recently I fell at work and hurt myself. I made a report and went to urgent care to get it checked out. 2 days later I ended up in the hospital for a week for undiagnosed severe medical issues. On the 20th I received an email from HR stating that as of (insert date) I was terminated due to leave ineligibility. The next day they called me saying "didn't you have a fall here recently?" When I replied yes they said "well we may not fire you, dont do anything with that letter yet." This was already after I submitted for unemployment. They told me to call them back after I see a specialist and tell them what they said. I called them as they asked and told them I still had no answers on what's happening with my health, but I'm getting better. They replied with "well we will have to discuss this with the head of HR, we may have to keep you terminated". That was the last I heard. I just received a letter in the mail from my employer stating "as of ( insert date), we accept your resignation". I was very careful in my phone conversation with them not to say anything even remotely close to " I'm quiting"... now I'm afraid unemployment is going to deny my claim. They are also fighting workers comp ( need tests for when I hurt myself). What should I do?
