My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: Illinois. My son was driving my pickup up a four lane main street when another pickup backed onto the street my son attempted to miss the other truck but it never slowed down and hit my truck above the rear tire. The police were called and the officer recognized the other driver after talking with the witness and dismissing her without statement talked to him for a few minutes then moved his squad car out of sight did a Drivers information exchange which he conveniently left the other parties policy number blank apparently only on my copy. He gave the DIE to my son and then left. My son and passenger were both injured yet no statement was taken from them. However when we finally obtained a copy of the report the officer reported my son the passenger with him confessed to rear ending the other driver who also said he was rear ended while pulling off the main street. It finally made sense why he moved his patrol car. Dash Cam evidence. I hired a forensics specialist that proves that the accident could not have happened the way it did. His insurance denied me because of the police report my insurance denied him because of the evidence and are going after the other insurance company for the medical medical paid by my insurance the remainder of I will have to pay if I want them fully treated. My truck is old beat up but a reliable truck cared for and working on half a million miles, my son is Hispanic and his passenger black. I am a disabled vet and the other driver white middle aged, driving a new truck, and a fellow city employee of the officer involved. What would you do?
