I live in Penn (US)
Long story short I have to file my taxes for 2017 and 2018 and I would like to do it online. I did file extensions for these two years but of course the extensions have expired. Let's not worry about why I didn't file them at this point. I have made payments to the IRS for these years both by EFTPS (in 2017) and also having taxes withheld last year (2018) from my social security retirement benefits on a monthly basis voluntarily. Started retirement benefits Feb 2018.
I made the EFTPS payment in 2017 and the withholding taxes for 2018 in 2018. I technically retired in Jan 2018 (62nd birthday) and my first payment (Social Security Benefits) was in March of 2018 for February of 2018. All during last year I had SS withhold taxes.
2017 I was self-employed as an electrician but basically worked for one company the entire year (1099). They paid me for my labor thru my company name check, not cash and there was not much materials (or other company expenses) since they paid for all materials. Very little other company expenses during that year.
2018 I was self-employed but only made about $150.00 gross income with my company name. Other than that I worked for one company (for other than electrician work) and they paid me by check made out to my name not my company (1099). My retirement benefits started as of Feb 2018. Again I had them hold back 7% of my benefits for taxes the entire year. I made from the company I worked for less than $17,000 for the year.
Overall what I paid in 2017 thru EFTPS and 2018 having SS withhold 7% I know I paid more than enough of what I may have owed for those two years. Lazy you may call it but a lot going on in my life and just did not find the time to sit down and do it. I also did not file any state taxes or local taxes during this time.
So my question is basically what online service is suggested for me to file my back taxes of 2017 and 2018? I don't want to spend the money to go into an H&R Block or Liberty office and have them do it. I would prefer to do it online. I have tried but most any online service will only ask me for my 2018 info and not 2017.
If I have to pay to file them online I am not too concerned if they charge like $35.00 or so; H&R Block and Liberty office filing is outrageous though and that is why I want to file online.
Thanks for the advice and suggestions.
