I have Parkinsons. Was diagnosed about 5 years ago. I was struggling with my symptoms and pushing myself to work. I used to be a workaholic. My neurologist told me to stop working 3 years ago. So I stopped. I receive long term disability from Harford. I am trying to get my SSD.
I had my first hearing in May. I was denied because I am still able to drive, take care of myself, have less brain fog after stopping of one medication, can visit my friends and travel without assistance. They even put there that evidence says that I watch movies, that I did last time about 3 years ago.
All my problems and symptoms they made looking real small and insignificant.
They said that I can work as information clerk, despite that I cant sit or stand for more than 30 min (due to low back scoliosis), I cant write. I type extremely slow. I often get anxious that makes my speech slurry and stuttery.
My lawyer doesnt want to appeal. He says that it would take 18 months and most likely will be denied again. Just because the way it is.
He thinks that its better to start over again with the later date.
I was told that the lawyer should send me to an occupational doctor. He didnt.
Harfod says that they will reduce my payments if I dont appeal. They also say that they can find me another lawyer.
The whole process is exhausting and not fair. It looks like it designed to send me into a grave rather then help. Moreover, I have no support system.
I was trying for 3 years already. Its scary to think about another 18 months following by another denial.
Please, tell me,what would be a good way of action in my situation?
Thank you.
