I'm a Spanish citizen and I just went to the USA for a 10 day trip without insurance under tourist visa. I went to the emergency room and a week later got a bill of $6000 (for 7 stitches) to my girl friend's address.
Since I am not living in the USA at all, is this a problem for me?
What worries me the most is if the hospital can make her liable (she didn't sign any paper at all) or harass her to pay my bills?
I really have no legal knowledge on this and would appreciate any help.
