My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Kansas
My roommate and I signed a renewal lease that starts in August a couple months ago. Our copy had been severely damaged and we went in to get another copy, but they had no record of us signing a renewal in the first place. They don't have a copy, a scan or anything. But, now that he knows we signed one, he wants us to sign a new one, and says that we have to. We genuinely don't want to live here anymore due to some serious management issues, mostly we are constantly forgotten about, and they kept losing our maintenance requests, and would love to move somewhere else. I just wanted to know, since there isn't a lease anymore because the landlord lost it, do we still have to sign another one, as he says?
Thanks so much for the help.
