My question involves a child custody case from the State of Florida:
My brother suffered a traumatic brain injury leaving him severely incapacitated. At that time, his daughter was 6 months old. Four months after his accident, his finace left him and took his daughter, leaving no trace of her whereabouts. Three years later, I get a call out of the blue from her, asking me to take her daughter because she couldn't care for her. Now, a year later, she has married a man she just met and wants her daughter back and her new husband to adopt her/my brother's daughter.
How do I get shared custody and prevent this guy from adopting my brother's daughter? My brother has extremely limited cognitive ability, cannot comprehend the situation, and cannot speak for himself.
