My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: WA
Hi all
My son lives in ADU/MIL at our property.
He decided to remodel it and install hardwood.
He found a person from his church, that he knew for 3 months there, that promised to do the job.
He promised to remove carpet, buy hardwood and bring it in, have it installed, and re install baseboard.
Showed up for measurements, gave some directions, removed baseboard, and took $2 000 cash deposit towards hardwood purchase.
Unfortunately, son did all this without letting me know, only my wife was present there during their conversation.
That person vanished. Was supposed to come over Fridasy for instasll, no show. Phone number disconnected. Parents state they have not seen him for 4 days by now and do not know where he is.
Son knows his name and parents address. As I mentioned, he was a church group member for 3 months.
What is that we can do to recover apparently lost funds?
I do very well understand that this or that should have not been done, but it is what it is. Valuable lesson to my son and major fear from now on for us - as it's an expensive property and now crook has it spotted.
I told son to file a police report, sheriff deputy didn't show up. Considering filing a small court claim.
Suggestions will be most valued.
No, no written agreements or such. Son "trusted the guy".
